Applications of hair loss treatment

Among the non-invasive methods for hair loss and recovery of weakened hair, PRP is one of the safest and most effective methods available. After about 15 years of therapeutic use of this technique, the benefits of this treatment have become more apparent today. There are several differences according to the physician diagnosis and the patient's age and sex and the severity of hair loss, the most common of which are three injections at monthly intervals and then a single annual reminder dose.

For optimal PRP, platelet concentrations should be higher than baseline, and to date the optimal effective dose for injectable cases has been defined as 4-7 times the baseline count. Rooyagen is defined in cases of skin beauty with a dose of about 3.5 ± 0.5 and in cases of hair treatment about 6 ± 1.

Injection intervals:

In most studies injection are done at intervals of 1 month but this interval should not be less than 3 weeks or more than 6 weeks, however, in some studies, these injections have been performed at intervals of 2 weeks.  Regarding the number of injections in the treatment protocol, most studies recommend at least 2 to 3 injections. However, after performing the injection protocol and achieving the desired clinical outcome (hereinafter), a single annual reminder dose should not be forgotten.

Expected Results:

It is useful in androgenic hair loss (AGA) and coin hair loss. However, in men with AGA, 5-alpha reductase inhibitors (such as finasteride) should be used according to a specific protocol to reduce dihydrotestosterone (DHT) levels. According to the documents and unlike advertisements, one should not expect a miracle from this method, but it is mostly used in active hair loss.

In this way, in the first month after the injection, hair loss stops to a large extent, and by the third month, without observing a noticeable increase in the number of hairs, their diameter increases to about 100%, and then up to the sixth month, it is possible to increase the number of hairs (It does not mean the production of new follicles, but the activation of dormant follicles). Of course, we do not have a report of more than 20% in this field.
